What is an ICF Credential, and why should I obtain one?

As the leading global organization for coaches and coaching, the International Coaching Federation (ICF) is dedicated to advancing the profession by setting high standards, providing independent certification and building a worldwide network of trained coaching professionals. Holding an ICF credential shows clients and peers that you are committed to professional coaching standards. ICF offers three credential levels: Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and Master Certified Coach (MCC). ICF awards these credentials independently; completing a Morphosis programme or receiving a course certificate does not itself award an ICF credential. Under ICF's current ACC requirements, applicants must complete at least 60 hours of coaching education; 100 hours of coaching experience with at least eight clients, including at least 75 paid hours and 25 hours completed within 18 months of applying; 10 hours of mentor coaching over at least three months; a performance evaluation; and the ICF ACC Exam. The documents an applicant submits depend on whether the Level 1/Level 2 or Portfolio application path applies. Morphosis coach education is designed to support professional development and the relevant application pathway, while each applicant remains responsible for satisfying ICF's current requirements and applying directly to ICF. Becoming an ICF-credentialed coach means that you have met the high standards set by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). This includes completing specific education and experience requirements, demonstrating a deep understanding of coaching competencies, and upholding strict ethical guidelines. As an ICF-credentialed coach, you can show your clients and peers that you are a professional who is committed to the coaching industry and to providing the highest level of service.
